If you are going to do Xmas window displays...

...you may as well do Art Deco ones!

Seasonal window displays at Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York, 2012.

[Thanks to Msitress Maddie over at The Casa du Borghese for highlighting these!]

  1. There's nothing that compares around here.

It's time for a trip abroad.

  2. They are quite stunning aren't they? Next week I'll be sharing more from the city. When I get to the city and off the train, I can't get to Bergdorfs quick enough, except maybe a pit stop at Therapy for a G&T!

  3. I have never been to Noo Yawk. A close compatriot once quipped he'd only visit if it were in black & white! I too fondly imagine it to be all glorious Art Deco, tap-dancing, Busby Berkeley numbers, and the Empire State to be incomplete without a gorilla holding Fay Wray. Jx

  4. Wow! Love it :)
And I think the clothes are real & not costume.
Makes me miss the gorgeous glam John Galliano gave to fashion world before the scandal.
    Indeed thank you Mistress Maddie!

    1. I agree - he may be drug-crazed loony, but the world of fashion needs people like Galliano... (Especially since Alexander McQueen, Anna Piaggi, Loulou de la Falaise and Isabella Blow are all dead.) Jx

    2. Agree Jon. Galliano is banished & all the greats you mentioned have left us but look at the mess today. I mean...Raf Simons at Dior??? Alexander Wang at Balenciaga??? Hedi Slimane at YSL??? Its really laughable.
John was the last of the mohicans. Haute Couture may have died when Saint Laurent left us but glamour & fun died too when John Galliano left. Of course we don't condone what drunken John said in principle but the RTW seasons just haven't been the same without him. And Christian Lacroix for that matter. Thank Gawd for Jean Paul Gautier who's still riding the choppy waves of fashion. Vivre Gautier!

    3. Vive Gaultier, indeed! Let's also not forget - from two ends of a scale, admittedly - Karl Lagerfeld and Zandra Rhodes... Jx

    4. Yessss Zandra Rhodes! A lovely lovely lady & trailblazer. Zandra Rhodes, Divine, Andrew Logan...the dream team!

Grace Coddington told the Huffington Post today her opinion about Nicolas Ghesquière leaving Balenciaga, "He will bide his time and come back. He's too brilliant to just disappear. He's very passionate about what he does. He's not caught up in fashion and celebrity at all." Galliano, on the other hand, is iffy: "I hope he will return, but I don't know. That's a tough one to get over. That's tougher than the Gucci people thinking they want a change of face. I love John, I think he's brilliant. He certainly intends to come back — when he's ready."
I think the fashion world has already forgiven John but the business lobby hasn't yet...

    5. Fingers crossed we haven't seen the last of either. Jx
