CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." I've just got her 1960 THE CHALLENGE (or IT TAKES A THIEF) to watch, one of her lesser efforts, TOO HOT TO HANDLE is a sizzler too. We like Jayne a lot, particularly THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT, such a shame she didn't make better films.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for Jayne (and to some extent Marilyn, and others of their ilk), her bosoms denied her the chance to ever be offered "better films"... Jx
DeleteTrue, but at least Marilyn leaves a great back catalogue of movies we return to and which will continue to be watched and she worked with the best - Huston, Wilder, Hawks, Mankiewicz, Olivier, Logan, Cukor, etc. I know Frank Tashlin is a comic genius too, and he got to enshrine Jayne in 2 comedy classics.
