If you want to achieve your dreams, you must follow them

"One magazine said that no-one writes sex in the back of a Bentley better than Jackie Collins."

"The biggest critics of my books are people who never read them."

"If anything, my characters are toned down - the truth is much more bizarre."

"Do not copy my style! The first rule of writing is write about what you know, not what you think you know. So, think about what you've done in your life and write about that."

"If you want to achieve your dreams, you must follow them, and the best way to follow them is not to think about wanting to be very rich, but to think about doing something that you really want to do."

"My weakness is wearing too much leopard print."

RIP darling Jackie, doyenne of the "bonkbuster", chronicler of the salacious underbelly of Hollywood glamour. We'll miss you...

Jacqueline Jill "Jackie" Collins, OBE (4th October 1937 – 19th September 2015)

  2. The spookiest thing is I found a dime store copy of both the original paper back "Hollywood Wives" and the DVD set of the U.S mini series of the same title just the other week?! Your blog was how I found out the news of La Collins passing, and something of my teen years went with her. I was obsess with her books and was a huge fan of her Lucky Santangelo series...Thank you for the gorgeous tribute to one "Lucky Bitch". :)

    1. Spooky indeed.

Glad to be of service where news is concerned, even if it is sad - let's all get some leopardskin on and quaff some Bolly this weekend in tribute! Jx

    2. I've also scoured the EBay listings for cheapie copies of those lost summer tomes, and found "Lucky", "Lady Boss", "Rock Star" and the classic "The Bitch" later turned into an equally trashy movie starring the other Collins dame...! I'm imagining that you have previously seen the HWWives Mini Series starring Suzanne Summers, Candice Bergan and Angie Dickinson?!

    3. I restricted myself to "The Bitch" and "the Stud", but I am certain that mini-series was delicious with such a cast... Jx

    4. Costumes by Nolan Miller, Suzanne Summers as a slightly overripe screen star a la Racquel Welch / Marilyn Monroe looking to become a "serious" actress by scheming and black mailing Anthony Hopkins pre-Silence of the Lambs (I'm sure this must be a highlight on the CV) and Candace Bergan pre-Murphy Brown as bored HW Wife shoplift in the BH Gucci is genius!!! I think Jackie Collins disagreed with much of the cast chosen by Aaron Spelling...but with a super long opening credits scene with a title song performed by dearly departed Laura Branigan it's all worth the price of admission!
