The Consort

With the death announced today of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, not only is this the end of the longest reign of any monarch on the planet (70 years - now superseded by the reign of our own dear HM Queen Elizabeth), but also the end of the longest tenure as consort - that of the impossibly glamorous Somdet Phra Nang Chao Sirikit Phra Borommarachininat, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit...

Who'll wear those tiaras now, I wonder?

RIP His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (5th December 1927 - 13th October 2016)

  1. a strikingly beautiful woman for sure.

I read that one of QEII's corgis passed last week. and rod stewart was knighted. and "this sceptred isle, this earth of majesty, this seat of mars, this other eden" continues on steady.

    have a good weekend, jon!

  2. Indeed Queen Sirikit is so impossibly glamorous and beautiful. She wore exclusively Balmain Haute Couture until Pierre Balmain's death. Her grand daughter Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana interned as an assistant at Balmain under designer Christophe Decarnin until his nervous breakdown. I can't imagine the Queen wearing the Fabergé eggs that present designer Olivier Rousteing is churning out. jmho.
    Happy hump day Jon!

    1. Happy hump day to you to! I had to look up the sexy Mr Rousteing's designs, and I must agree - our Lilibet wouldn't be seen dead in anything favoured by the likes of Kim'n'Kanye... Jx
