CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." Pole dancing queens
It is Beltane, Calan Mai, May Day, whatever - the time to celebrate flowers, dancing, light... and Queens!
And poles.
From May Morning by A.E. Housman:
How clear, how lovely bright,
How beautiful to sight
Those beams of morning play;
How heaven laughs out with glee
Where, like a bird set free,
Up from the eastern sea
Soars the delightful day.
Happy May Day!
Needless to say, here it is raining.

I may be going down, errrr, I mean, going around a May pole myself tonight. Daddy Warbucks is back in town!
ReplyDeletewho are you kidding...GOING DOWN, sir? ;-b
DeleteHope you don't intend to wear flowers in your hair and wrap it in ribbons! Jx
Deletehere it is cloudy and cool. and the only dancing I will be doing is with myself (cue the billy idol song here).
ReplyDeleteIt's been a typical Bank Holiday - pouring down all day, then blue skies in time for the sun to go down. Hey ho. Jx
DeleteTo sunny skies ahead.
ReplyDeletecin-cin!
Ironically, just as I am readying myself for the gloom of the office, there's nary a cloud in the sky over London... Jx
DeleteI can barely remember the last time I danced around a Maypole - it must have been when I was at infant school. I just loved winding that ribbon around the pole. A sign of things to come...
ReplyDeleteAnd later, that "ribbon" was made of latex... Jx
