CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." "The lie that tells the truth." "Ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical; effeminate or homosexual; pertaining to or characteristic of homosexuals."

A magical thing
"I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December
A magical thing
And sweet to remember.
'We are nearer to Spring
Than we were in September,'
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December."
- Oliver Herford

I always love the day...but alas..our cold and snow hasn't even arrived here yet..been very mild.
ReplyDeleteIt is mild and damp here at the moment, too - but then again we are used to all that. I don't care what the weather does; I am just grateful we can look forward to more light... Happy Solstice! Jx
DeleteYAYZ for more light! currently 63F at 6:25a and raining.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait. All our bulbs are up, just waiting their chance to flower. Jx
DeleteI think your bulb is always up and ready to flower? Or is that pollenate?
Delete“My hoe as it bites the ground revenges my wrongs, and I have less lust to bite my enemies. In smoothing my rough hillocks, I smooth my temper.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
DeleteWhat a lovely sentiment, I am rather taken by that poem and the poster is fab
ReplyDeleteMr Herford was apparently referred to in his lifetime as "The American Oscar Wilde", despite the fact that he was British (born in Sheffield).
DeleteThe poster is actually a magazine cover. It would look great framed, however... Jx
