CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." "The lie that tells the truth." "Ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical; effeminate or homosexual; pertaining to or characteristic of homosexuals."

Fame is a by-product
“I’ve been popular and unpopular, successful and unsuccessful, loved and loathed, and I know how meaningless it all is. Therefore I feel free to take whatever risks I want.”
“Fame is a by-product. Fame is something that should happen because you do work that speaks to people and people want to know about your work. Unfortunately the personality of people has taken over from the work and the artistry and it’s this thing now that stands on its own. I don’t think one should ever aspire to being famous.”
“People think they will wake up one day and I’ll be gone. But I’m never going away.”
Many happy returns, Madonna Louise Ciccone (born 16th August 1958)

ugh; I like her 80s and 90s music, but now she is irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteShe is, and will always remain, more "relevant" (whatever than means) than any endless stream of look-good-can't-sing Arianas, Rihannas, Ritas, Taylors, and other wannabees. All hail! Jx
DeleteAretha chose a pretty spectacular way to upstage her on her last birthday, you've got to admit
ReplyDeleteNot one's most brilliant birthday present...
DeleteEydie Gormé died on mine a few years back. Jx
Had you invited her round?
DeleteShe had an open invitation. Jx
DeleteShe's never going away like a drug resistant STD.
ReplyDeleteNo idea who you are, but I am certain you'll be remembered for your sophistication and wit.
DeleteShe just is !
ReplyDeleteand always will be.
Now and forever.
Amen
"Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there." Jx
