    1. Of this list, I/we have seen on stage Eartha, Liza, Stritchy, Fenella, Ana, Liza, Siouxsie, Kylie, Rita, Lulu and Petula!

      PS Tina's not on it.

  2. Fair enough, I can never look at one of these lists without complaining.

    1. There are numerous omissions from among our own favourites - not least Dame Angela, the Divine Miss M, Bea Arthur, Frances Barber and Sheila Steafel - but all those featured are in the (current) list in the sidebar of this blog. Jx

    2. I'm surprised you didn't include Diana Ross

    3. To use your words, regarding Miss Ross: "she's for someone else".

      Not a "Patron Saint".

    4. She's "for someone else" from my point of view, though I love the Supremes.

Though my favourite girl group is the Shangri-las because they're bonkers

    1. Milady Ana is top of the alphabetical list, but also a great "opening act" for the rest of the pantheon, methinks. Clink, clink! Jx

  4. They played I Kissed a Girl, I Liked It, on our local station this morning and said it was for international women's day, I thought that's a terrible choice, lyrically. Musically you either like a song or you don't, but... Don't know how anyone else feels about that song, it just seems like a straight man's fantasy to me

    1. Katy Perry would never be on this, nor any other list, of mine. Jx

  5. No not mine (though my little lad likes Roar and that's probably it, she's for someone else, like I think Kylie is for someone else.) It just didn't seem like a very empowering song.

Don't know what I'd play for International Women's Day. Dustys version of I Am Woman probably.
