He modernised the nude

From the BBC:
The work of US photographer Herb Ritts is the subject of a major exhibition at the Getty Center in Los Angeles, nearly 10 years on from his 2002 death.

According to the Getty Center, Ritts "revolutionised fashion photography, modernised the nude, and transformed celebrities into icons".
Herb Ritts: LA Style runs until 26 August 2012

  2. When a friend of mine came out to me and was surprised that I wasn't surprised, I said, "The Herb Ritts photos on your walls kinda gave it away."

    1. Some things are immediately identifiable as a "coming-out statement" - in my case it was eye-makeup. Jx

  3. Love these!

The same week that I saw Joel Grey in Silverlake, I also saw Richard Gere in Bent, which completely rocked my world. (Also that week: the original production of Sweeney Todd, and Mary Tyler Moore in Whose Life Is It, Anyway?. It was a good week! I was a total theatre queen back then. I realize this has little to do with your post but it all came flooding back to me!)
