CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." "The lie that tells the truth." "Ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical; effeminate or homosexual; pertaining to or characteristic of homosexuals."
I would swear that the guy in pink on the fourth cover is Prince!
ReplyDeleteThat said, an album like "The Stripper" should obviously be in every home...
I think the guy in pink also swore he was Prince. Unfortunately, the buying public obviously disagreed. Jx
DeletePS "Something wrong with strippin'?!"
Guy on the second album cover is the late Bob Welch. My mother is sitting beside me now and says she once auditioned to appear in a video of his in the early 80s but alas wasn't chosen. She's not sure but she thinks a certain Lisa Vanderpump auditioned and lost too. It was a long time ago. Lisa V did eventually do an ABC video. My mother recalls Lisa quite ravishing in a Victoria Beckham way and extremely sophisticated for her young age. And a nice person too.
ReplyDelete*thanks Ma for the tidbits from your glamorous and misspent youth*
Thanks Jean (and Ma!) for the info - it's always good to realise that there were indeed real people and real stories behind these obscure record covers... Jx
