CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." "The lie that tells the truth." "Ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical; effeminate or homosexual; pertaining to or characteristic of homosexuals."

No matter how tacky this statue may be, it doesn't hold a candle to the giant Praying Hands statue in Tulsa at Oral Roberts University.
ReplyDeleteThat is truly vile. Mind you, we in the UK are not safe from terrible public "art" - not least the hideous 30ft depiction of two of Todd Browning's 'Freaks' at St Pancras station, the transvestite-masquerading-as-Miss-Winehouse in Camden, and that Di'n'Dodi "memorial" in Harrods. But nothing quite beats the outrageously bad Lucille Ball thing (that looks more like a zombie Ronald Reagan) in NY State, surely? Jx
DeleteI dated a guy once and said the same thing once..."less intriguing when you realize it's actually a swan."
ReplyDeleteCould have been worse: "...less intriguing when you realize it's actually a cock." Jx
