I think today should be...

...a "Say Something Hat Day" - courtesy of today's birthday girl Elsa Schiaparelli!

Don't you?

Don't spring these things on me!

I'm in "lovely hat mode", and then along you come with Japanese horror movies... Jx

    2. OMG - I'm pleased the clip was only 1.23! But now I feel I must watch the rest of the film just to scare the living daylights out of myself.

  3. HATS!!! Yes - hats are preferable on the head than disembodied hands, though the ones featured here are actually a little disturbing, especially the upturned shoe. I have been considering taking up wearing a simple Bowler in homage to Rene Magritte.

  4. These are stunning... like all the eyes in the clothing worn during the classic movie The Women! Love the fingers/hands. The shoe hat... Thank you for sharing, dear.

    1. When the likes of Gilbert Adrian or Edith Head sought inspiration, they would inevitably look to Schiaparelli... Jx

I used to love wearing a hat....and then hair fashions put the mockers on it!I think we should have a Put A Hat On day in Blogland. Like Book on a chair.

  6. Just hearing the name Schiaparelli makes my pulse race.

According to the V&A the shoe hat of 1937-38 was made in collaboration with Salvador Dali and derives from a 1933 photograph of Dali wearing a woman's shoe on his head.
