CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." "The lie that tells the truth." "Ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical; effeminate or homosexual; pertaining to or characteristic of homosexuals."
I immediately feel very old indeed when I find that while this song was at Number #1 in our charts, Anne Hathaway, Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and singer Sam Sparro were all born.
Oh, I left my comment on him on your other blog, dear. Go read that and pretend I left it here. She's so pretty. And deadly... you know about the deadly, of course...
I love Boy George. I went to a Culture Club concert in Pittsburgh in probably 2000, and they were incredible. I love his voice. I can't believe The Boy is sixty!
Never saw him with Culture Club, but saw him live as a solo artist a few times back in the day, when Gay Pride used to have a party in a park after the march. His voice is unique, and still marvellous - and he's a very witty man, to boot! Jx
Just to see his face I can hear his singing in my head. Good memories and some sad of bygones days.
ReplyDeleteBygone days, indeed. Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? was thirty-nine years ago! Jx
DeleteShush! I didn't hear that! Lalalalalalalalalalalala

ReplyDeleteTo misquote Rudyard Kipling: "The androgyne of the species is more deadly than the male." Jx

DeleteSuch a set of Pipes Boy George has! I Respected that The Boy was so True to Self long before it was even remotely accepted by Society at large.
ReplyDeleteHe more-or-less broke down those barriers single-handedly! Jx
DeleteDrama.
ReplyDeleteI was there where were you.
Bless I'm
"Drama" might as well have been his middle name... Jx
