CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." "The lie that tells the truth." "Ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical; effeminate or homosexual; pertaining to or characteristic of homosexuals."
Happy Birthday, dear one. The big 2-OH? How fun. Put on your dancing shoes, darling. Trip that light fantastic beneath a shiny disco ball. Wishing you the very best. Kizzes.
Happy Belated Birthday! Nothing like a little Claire Booth Luce to brighten up my day! I LOVED Rosalind Russel in this - she stole the show IMHO. You always steal the show, baby. Here's to another year! XXOO
I believe it was Miss Booth Luce who had one of my favourite interchanges with Dorothy Parker (I use it still, needless to say), as they entered a narrow doorway together:
Claire: "Age before beauty, Dotty, dear..." Dorothy [sweeping ahead]: "And pearls before swine!"
Jx
PS I loved Roz Russell in this, too - fab costumes! By Adrian, of course.
