CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." "The lie that tells the truth." "Ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical; effeminate or homosexual; pertaining to or characteristic of homosexuals."
I would tend to agree with Ms Harlow. I remember when I used to get into drag the other Queen's knew not to talk to me or bug me when I was doing my eyelashes.
My eyelashes are one of my best features - they are nurtured and even get a conditioning treatment to stop them going dry and curly. I also agree with Ms Harlow. Sx
I have made this sound fancier than it actually is! What I mean is that I make sure my eyelashes and eyebrows get a smear of something like vaseline every evening before bedtime. I pay them attention, otherwise they go dry and fall out - like many other old things. Sx
Not sure it was an infection that killed Jean Harlow. She had kidney failure, and not long prior to that, inflammation of the gall bladder. No-one's ever explained why she had such problems at such a young age, however - it was tragic. Jx

ReplyDeleteI suppose it is a bit tricky when applying five pairs... Jx

Too much like hard work, methinks. Jx
DeleteI used to dye my eye lashes. It was wonderful, because mascara played merry hell with my eyes. (Didn't do much for my bed linen, either!)
ReplyDeleteJust your bed-linen, Dinah? Or other people's as well? 🤣🤣 Jx
DeleteI could go for weeks without sneezing. But the instant I got that first set of lashes done...
ReplyDelete...you pulled?! Jx
DeleteSi triste. S'il y avait eu des antibiotiques dans les anness 1930, la belle Harlow aurait survecu a l'infection renale qui l'a tuee. *d'Anjou
