Oh, Mr Rigsby!

The magnificent not-yet-a-Dame Frances de la Tour is 80 years old today!

All hail.

    1. She's a bit of a "Leftie", so has probably turned all such offers down... Jx

  2. I adore her. She is currently on the Professor T incarnation I'm watching. Not anywhere near as good as its original Dutch show, but she to me is the only saving grace of the show, playing Professor Tempest's mother.

    1. I had to look it up, as I'd never heard of it. Unusual twist on the criminal investigator-type series genre... Jx

  3. Get out! 80! Adore her. She classes up every production she touches.

    1. She's a remarkable actress, indeed.

It is indeed a shock to the system how old our familiar icons are nowadays! Jx

  4. I have just discovered (thanks to your link) that Should-Be-A-Dame Frances De La Tour was considered for the role of Doctor Who in the 80s! And I watched the incomprehensible Cold Lazarus just because she was in it - she was mesmerising, of course.
(I'm positive that Dame Frances can be heard in the Psychonauts 'jetlagged apple sandwich cut' dub of Jai's "Don't Give Me Away" - I think it's a sample from Cold Lazarus?)

    1. I imagine Miss De la Tour would have made a better job of the Doctor Who role than many - it might not even have been cancelled for all those years!

As for your pointer to that choon/mix - I've never heard of it, and can't find it on YouTube 😞... Jx

  5. J’adore Frances De La Tour :)
Tellement plein d’esprit dans la série télévisée Viscious.

    1. We found that show a bit embarrassing - seeing three actors of such high calibre trying to deal with such a terrible script. Jx

  6. I didn't know she was up Dr Who, she would have been marvellous. Thank you Mr De.

    1. As I commented to Ms Scarlet, I suspect she's the sort of woman who would turn down such honours - but you never know... Jx
