"There she goes, Lisa Minooli!"

"Reality is something you rise above."

"I'd rather be a first-rate version of myself than a second-rate version of anybody."

"Dream on it. Let your mind take you to places you would like to go, and then think about it and plan it and celebrate the possibilities. And don't listen to anyone who doesn't know how to dream."

"Audiences are the same all over the world, and if you entertain them, they'll respond."

"I'm always looking at the next thing. I'm too curious to look back..."

  2. How marvelous. Good for her. Such a trooper. And it has been a long, hard road for little Liza. 75? Say it isn't so! Thanks for sharing this. She's a love. A sparkler.

  4. Got my tickets 2 weeks ago — can’t wait. Have been lucky enough to see her live 5 times, starting in 1973 when I was 14. Liza Mae has been a part of my life my whole life — a real survivor, a gypsy, brilliant performer, and the last vaudevillian.

    Cheered Jon! xoN

    1. I saw her live only once - the "By Myself" show in London's Apollo Victoria theatre in 1983. She was, of course, an utter joy.

"The Last Vaudevillian" is a very appropriate title, methinks. There are very few left who could even come close to what she did - Chita, Shirley MacLaine, Mitzi; and they're all in their late 80s now... Jx

  7. That was a great tribute last night -- I wish it had been broadcast over a major network. A moving tribute to her dedication, incredible hard work, and her generosity as a person and as a performer.

I hope whoever chooses The Kennedy Center Honors honorees was listening, as well as those who bestow the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Oscars. xoN
