  2. Weirdly enough, I just watched that second film, where the woman walks down the steps. She's a con artist (and lovely to look at but a bit wooden in the acting department) and so is the man looking up at her - he's a photographer and she's his model. They blackmail men when she catches them in a compromising position. Okay... wracking my brain and not coming up with the title.

    1. Spooky coincidence! The film title is actually in the filename of each gif - it's Hazel Brooks in Sleep, My Love (1948). No, I've never seen it... Jx

    2. Yes! With Claudette Colbert. It's a bit silly. The plot involves gaslighting Claudette into killing herself. Hypnosis. It's not a great film, but a fun watch all the same. You can see it for free on YouTube.

    3. My mother used to love Douglas Sirk (and his ilk) melodramas - we used to call them "ironing films" beacuse she'd sit down to iron the laundry while watching them - but I doubt I'll be rushing to find it, to be honest.. Jx

  5. Judy Garland looks about twelve there. I love that film though. Even if she, Lana Turner and Hedy Lammarr all seem to be starring in different movies.

    1. She was only about 18 or 19 when she was in Ziegfield Girl, and she looks terrified...

I love that film, too - but it's Busby Berkeley! You were expecting a plot..? So many of his films feature shows-within-shows that start out on a stage in a small theatre that suddenly, out of the blue, expands into something the size of an aircraft hangar with a cast of thousands! Jx

  6. I only watch most Judy films for Judy, she's the main attraction of most of them. But Lana is great in it too.
