CAMP: "A cornucopia of frivolity, incongruity, theatricality, and humour." "A deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavored, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love." "The lie that tells the truth." "Ostentatious, exaggerated, affected, theatrical; effeminate or homosexual; pertaining to or characteristic of homosexuals."
PS Just looked up nembutal, and Google threw up as its primary result the telephone number for Samaritans! It an assisted suicide drug, and one I'd never heard of.
What??? Nembutal can help you on your way? Blimey! A half grain of nembutal was a fairly common pre-surgery calmer. Of course, that was in the dark ages.No chandeliers involved.
Loads of drugs used to be in common usage - laudanum (commonly used by the Victorians as a painkiller, especially at childbirth) was actually opium, cocaine was used to treat toothache, and Valium/diazepam used to be doled out like sweets by GPs in the 1960s... Jx

ReplyDeleteOh, those fabulous balls we used to hold!
